Wooden Cribbage Board
Cribbage is a card game in which a pegged board is used to keep track
of the scores that accumulate rapidly during play. The origin of cribbage
comes from another card game, "Noddy," that was prominent during the 16th
century. Noddy is a much simpler card game which doesn't use a crib and
consists of a three card hand. The origin of cribbage is credited to an
Englishman in the 17th century, Sir John Suckling, who was well-known
for his gaming skills. This early form of cribbage only used five cards
and the crib consisted of one card from each player. Cribbage game changed
little until the 19th century when the cribbage hand changed to six cards
and the crib was increases to two cards. This style of cribbage is still
currently used today.

Mah Jong, an Ancient Chinese Tile
Game
Mah Jong combines the elements of dominoes with rummy. Shrouded in mystery,
Mah Jong's origins are unknown. Some board game historians believe that
Mah Jong derived from two of Chinese card games: Ya Pei and Ma Tiae. The
Mah Jong played in the United States today is a Western variant of the
original Mah Jong game and was developed during the 19th century. From
ancient times to today, Mah Jong has fascinated generations of board game
enthusiasts.
We are proud to continue the Mah Jong tradition by offering this beautiful
Mah Jong set. Encased in a soft zipper carrying case, this Mah Jong set
is great for gamers on the go. The Mah Jong tiles are beautifully detailed
and wood tile racks fit conveniently within the case, making this travel
Mah Jong set both compact and practical.
History of Chinese Checkers
Chinese checkers comes from a popular Victorian board game, Halma. There
is little difference between Halma and Chinese checkers except for the
shape of the board. Chinese checkers board has a star pattern, while Halma
board has a square pattern. Chinese checkers was first patented by a famous
German games company, West by Ravensburger, under the name Stern-Halma.
In the 1920s, Stern-Halma was introduced in the United States as Chinese
checkers, which is believe to have gotten it's more catcher name from
the star on the Chinese flag. Chinese checkers came into full popularity
in 1930s. Because of the game's popularity in America, Milton Bradley
patented its version of Chinese checkers in 1941 which has changed little
in the following decades.
